Dior - Purple Revolution

Hello everyone!

This was my birthday gift from Ruxi, back in September! This was my first Dior polish ever! I've swatched it then, but, I finally was not happy with the pictures, so I did it again ;)

What can I say about a Dior polish but try to find flaws to it :)? The formula is excellent, a bit on the thick side, but the brush is just perfect and makes the application a child-play, the colour is so beautiful and vampy, and rich (though I guess it's a dupe after OPI Lincoln Park After Dark, but I guess Dior's got a better formula )! If you've got the budget, I totally recommend this polish (about 22 euros/bottle).

Here I'm wearing 2 coats of Dior Purple Revolution, no top coat (sooo shiny!!!):

In the shade

And, just for the fun, as the flackies are so "in" right now, I applied a layer of Nfu Oh 49 on top:

Mmm...! Love the looks of this combo! ;)

In conclusion:

Application: 5/5
Formula: 4.5/5
Finish: 5/5
Drying time: 4.5/5
Opacity: 5/5

Overall: 4.8/5

OPI - I Vant to Be A-Lone Star

Hello everyone,

As I said before, I'm really, really behind with my swatching... I have a lot of un-swatched polishes that I'd like to show! I know, normally I should be stating to swatch the 2012 spring collections, but instead... I'm doing 2011 spring! :)
I've only got 3 polishes from OPI Texas 2011 Spring collection: I Vant to Be A-Lone Star, Its' Totally Fort Woth it and Guy Meets Gel-veston... Not the greatest polishes ever, but somehow different!

So today it's time for OPI Vant to Be A-Lone Star.
I don't know exactly what the name means.. I guess it refers to the "Lone Star State" (Texas) but I don't know why is it spelled like this?
Anyway, back to the polish... The colour is a grey-ish baby blue, with silver shimmer inside. It looks almost frosted to me. The problem with this polish is that is SHEER... Here I'm wearing 3 coats of polish, and still got bald spots and VNL. This polish is however beautiful, and I think it would be even more beautiful maybe layered on an opaque nude creme. In spite of everything, I really like it!

And then I decided to add 2 coats of Deborah Lippmann Glitter in the Air on top... Everything changes instantly ! :D

Who'd knew? :) OPI Vant to Be A-Lone Star is an excellent base for Glitter in the Air ;)

In conclusion:

Application: 4/5
Formula: 2.5/5
Finish: 3.5/5
Drying time: 3/5
Opacity: 2/5

Overall: 3/5

OPI - Congeniality is My Middle Name - Miss Universe Collection

Hello everyone,

These pictures were taken in august, during the summer holidays, Bucarest...

I really loved this polish and is the only one my mother really liked - so now it's more than precious for me. Of course, at that time I still had my long-holidays-nails :)

I'd describe the colour as a berry base with fuchsia glass-fleck shimmer! Gorgeous. It does look a lot like The One that Got Away from the Katy Perry collection, but this one is a bit lighter and slightly more pink. I'll probably do a comparison later on this week. Opaque in 2 coats, it's a got a very good formula and dries very well.

So, here I'm wearing 2 coats of OPI Congeniality is My Middle Name + 1 coat of Seche Vite:

In conclusion:

Application: 5/5
Formula: 4/5
Finish: 4.5/5
Drying time: 4/5
Opacity: 4/5

Overall: 4.5/5

Orly - Nite Owl

Hello everyone,

Today I have for you one of my favourite polshes Orly has released in 2011!
I guess it's not something extremely spectacular like flakie polishes are ;) but I still think that this is a great creation. There are some other 3 or 4 Orly polishes from the last year that are on my shopping list (Fowl Play, Sea Gurl and Frisky), but I've decided to start out with this one.

Nite Owl (what a cute name!) is a taupe/café au lait cream with loads of silver microglitter inside. The effect is fabulous and the formula is great! It went right where I wanted and whan I wanted. I can't find a dupe for this one as much I'd scratch my head! :) Love it when this happens!
The drying time was also very ok, and the finish is impeccable. Opaque in 2 coats.

Her I'm wearing 2 coats of Orly - Nite Owl, no top coat:

In conclusion:

Application: 5/5
Formula: 4/5
Finish: 5/5
Drying time: 4/5
Opacity: 4/5

Overall: 4.4/5

OPI - A Little Nookie

Hello everyone,

Now this is a genuine winter swatch... no sunshine, not good light for good quality pictures, no nothing! I'm sorry for the low-quality pictures, but the light is very bad today. I have however chosen to swatch a little bit today because I happen to be at home and to have some time!

So I've decided to start swatchig all of my polish bottles I have since like more than a year ago and that I haven't swatched yet!

A Little Nookie is one the first OPI polishes I've ever purchased, I guess it was in my very fist big command, back in the fall of 2009. I have worn it 2 or 3 times, because is such a neat and neutral colour. I really love it! It is one of those black labeled OPIs that today are quite hard to find: A Little Nookie is part of the Sheer Romance Collection 2002! 2002!!! :) A polish from a collection released 10 years ago! Now that's an oldie. I didn't know when I bought it, but I'm happy I did ;)
It's got an adorable satin-like finish, is easy to work-with and the application is great. It is sheer indeed, as the collection name stipulates, but it builds up very well.
Here I'm wearing 3 coats of A Little Nookie, no top, and I think I could've used 2 more for full opacity. But I can't say that I dislike the VNL with this kind of shades (not like the "sorbets" from the Texas Collection!) . I think it was made to be like this, and it is very lovely.

In conclusion:
Formula: 4/5
Application: 5/5
Drying time: 4/5
Finish: 5/5
Opacity: N/A*

Overall:  4.5/5

Thank you for watching!

Hugs!!

* I've decided that announced sheer polishes will not be noted on their opacity, as from the beginning we know that there isn't supposed to be any!

Claire's Mood - Mellow/Crazy

Hello everyone,

This is another swatch I did back in September 2011. We've had a great sunny and warm September... too bad I didn't do more swatches then...

Claire's Mood polishes are not available in France and on no website shipping to Europe. And I was so curious about these "Mood" polishes, I had to have one. I've hence purchased this one on ebay (in the UK, I guess, don't remember exactly).
It is a nice polish, I really like the color smoothly changing from pink to purple. But one has to have long nails in order to clearly see the color changing. My nails were quite long, but I guess not long enough... you can see it, but it is not that obvious.
What I disliked about this polish was the rough finish and the sheerness.

Here I'm wearing 2 coats of Claire's Mood - Mellow/Crazy, no top coat:

In conclusion:

Application: 3/5
Formula: 3/5
Finish: 2/5
Drying time: 4/5
Opacity: 2/5

Overall: 2.8/5

Nubar - Reclaim

Hello everyone,

So this would be my first real post after a long absence.
I have to catch up a little, a have some pics I took in September and in October, so I'd like to show these to you firstly.

Now, this is one of the longest time lemmings, in my opinion one of the most beautiful holographic polishes that have ever been done: Nubar Reclaim!
And the thing is that not only it is an gorgeous polish, it is also of a great quality of formula, application and drying. If I had to mark this, I'd say... 10/10!

I'm sorry for the inappropriate number of pictures, but... I think it worth it! Here I'm wearing 2 coats of Nubar - Reclaim, no top coat:

In shade

And just at that gorgeousness in the sun!!!

Thanks everyone for watching.

Slowly Coming Back to Life..

Hi there everyone,

Happy New Year!
Well it's been a long time since the last time I've blogged ... It was just before the worse month in my whole life... November 2011. I'll always remember this month, and hope that God won't allow any worse.
I'm not going to give a lot of detail about it, I don't want to put on a nail blog things that are so intimate and so painful. Just one phrase: in November I lost both my parents. I just can't say any other word. I'm sorry.
This was the reason I've stopped blogging for more than 2 months.

In spite of the fact that untill the New Year's Eve I haven't worn any polish whatsoever, I still love nail polish and I still love blogging. I'll start to blog again, but I'll take it easy.

Whishing you all the best,

Hugs!

Zoya - Dovima

Hello everyone,

Hope you've been doing fine! Me, I hate late autumn, the depressive November coming up next...changing the hour this weekend... and this cold wind! Oh well, hope December will come sooner with its Christmas-y, joyful atmosphere!

Anyways, today I have for you a love at first sight! I saw it on many blogs, and I decided to purchase it. I think it's from the Matte Velvet collection 2009. Well, I don't think it suits me very well, though I still love the shade and the matte charcoal finish.
The application is very good. I tried both one coat and 2 coats. Because most of the blogs show it in 2 coats, here I'm actually wearing 1 coat of Zoya Dovima, no top coat:

Thank you so much for watching!!!

Chanel - Mimosa

Hello everyone,

These pictures were taken during my holidays in Romania...in august! You can guess the high level of housekeeping and sportive activity by the the length of my nails ... :D
The picture quality is not great, sorry about that.

So, Chanel Mimosa was the first Chanel and I've ever tried on! And this is thanks to my friend Ruxi who borrowed it to me. I really enjoyed wearing it, and also it was durng summer and I loved it!
The application is OK, no streaks at all , which is not often for a yellow! I don't remember exactly if I was wearing 2 or 3 coats? What's for sure, is that you'll need at least 2 coats for opacity, because the formula is quite on the thin side. But you know, I really loved this shimmery, bright yellow! I know that "Mimosa" is a more glamorous name, but I would rather call it Chanel Lemon! ;) Don't you think it really looks like lemon? I do :D

Thank you everyone for wathcing!

Big hugs!!!

Essie - Brazilliant - Brazilliant Collection

Hello everyone,

Continuing today with posting another polish from the Brazilliant Collection from Essie! I've got a lot to catch up with!;)
So here is Brazilliant! Another orange! Yay - I love orange! I think that this polish was one of the most expected this summer (by me, anyway! :) ). It is a very beautiful bright orange, with pink sheer; which makes it quite one of a kind. The finish though is not quite as shiny as Meet me at Sunset, but I think it is prettier this way, and more original.
The application was quite average, I find it a bit streaky for an Essie, actually the only one from the set of 6 which had this problem. But it's not bad, I've seen worse ;)

So here I'm wearing 2 coats of Essie - Brazilliant, not top coat:

Essie - Meet Me At Sunset - Brazilliant Collection

Hello everyone,

I'm soooo sorry for the long absence... I was very, very busy lately and I've completely neglected my blog. I'll try to be post on a more regular base, but I gotta be honest - I'm not so sure about it because next week I'll start my new job, and I won't be really be counting my hours at the begging. We'll see.

So I've been having these pictures already uploaded in my drafts for more than a month. Don't remember exactly when I took them but it seems like it was a beautiful day :)

So here is, the second polish I'm posting from the Brazilliant Collection (oh, dear, I'm so terribly late with my posting!). I've already posted Smooth Sailing.
Now this polish din't seem quite xtraordunary in the bottle, but once on the nail, I think it looks great! This is a very smooth and shiny burnt orange cream. The application was fabulous, and the formula is great.

Here I'm wearing 2 coats of Essie - Meet Me at Sunset, no top coat:

Thank you so much for watching!

Chanel Péridot

Hello everyone,

I guess for the moment I can't posts more often than once a week... Sorry for that, I hope I'll get back to the normal pace of posting soon...

Today I have for you my very first Chanel polish!!! I know it's already been shown on a lot of blogs, but ... I have to show it to you because until Péridot I thought I'd never put 21 euros into one single polish! That's a lot of money... But it worthed every penny!!! I just love it! Well... I think I have a thing for the duo-chromes.. :)
So I guess the whole fuzz is about this gold-green(-and some brown, but that would make it a trio-chrome, right?) foil... that looks absolutely amazing!!! I'm not really a gold fan and I don't really own any pure gold foil in my stash, but this one is right up my alley!
The application is great, you will get some brush strokes however, but nothing ugly, nothing compared to frosties, metallics and other foils. Also, two coats are enough for full opacity and evenness.

Here is the wonder: two coats of Péridot + one coat of Sèche Vite:

Now, these next two pics were taken after 3 days of wear, on a sunny day. Usually I'm a very bad polish wearer. As my nails are thin and hence very flexible, most polishes start chipping after about 2 days. But not Péritdot! I have some tip wear, but I could've worn it very well for another couple of days (with an additional coat of Sèche Vite, of course).
Just look at that sparkle...! *sigh* :)

Thank you very much for watching!

Big hugs, everyone!!! <3

OPI - Skull & Glossbones

Hello everyone,

I've been having these pictures in my drafts for quite a while, I don't even remember when I did this. It's not the greatest swatch I could do, but I've decided to publish it because I'm so late with all the collections and everything...
This colour will probably worth a re-swatch later on this year, because it's a great colour! Skull & Glossbones is a beautiful and very original shade of light grey, but with a very subtle beige undertone. No dupes I could find for it! This is actually my favourite of the Pirates of the Caribbean collection (number 2 being Steady As She Rose).
The consistency of this one is a bit watery, but no biggie, it layers very well, and it's perfectly opaque with 2 coats. Dries quickly also.

Here I'm wearing 2 coats of OPI Skull & Glossbones, no top coat:

And here is the lousiest pirate of them all. Sorry for him. He looks angry and powerless!

I've got only Mermaid's Tears left to swatch of this collection. Coming soon! ;)

Thank you for watching!

See ya soon!
Hugs!!!
