Essie - Glamour Purse

Hello everyone,

I'm back from my long weekend in Paris (again!). This time was a little bit more touristic... but I couldn't miss the Sephora huge store on the Champs Elysées! ;)
I haven't downloaded the pictures yet... but coming soon! ;)

Meanwhile, today I'll be showing you a polish that matches very well the  here, in Toulouse, at this moment: rainy ,windy, gray-ishy, gloomy.. all of that!

Now about the polish...
When I first saw the 2011 fall collection from Essie, this was the polish I knew I wanted, even though it's been done a hundred times. I just have a "thing" for taupe, mushroom-y colours like this one. I already have OPI Over the Taupe - which is by the way my fav' polish ever, and my first OPI ever! ;) - and I just thought I'd try a different brand, like challenging my ever-sweetheart-Over the Taupe ;) But now I know that these 2 are quite different: Glamour Purse has more gray in it and a subtle purple undertone, while Over the Taupe sticks to the classical beige undertones, looking basically like milk chocolate on my nails ;)
I didn't do a comparison here, but I will if you want me to - just tell me!

The application was very good, needed 2 coats for opacity and the wear was also very good.

Here I'm wearing 2 coats of Essie Glamour Purse + 1 coat of Seche Vite:

In conclusion:

Application: 4.5/5
Formula: 4.5/5
Finish: 4.5/5
Drying time: 4.5/5
Opacity: 4.5/5
Wear: 4.0/5.0

Overall: 4.42/5

Thank you everyone for watching!

Hugs!!!

Orly - Nite Owl

Hello everyone,

Today I have for you one of my favourite polshes Orly has released in 2011!
I guess it's not something extremely spectacular like flakie polishes are ;) but I still think that this is a great creation. There are some other 3 or 4 Orly polishes from the last year that are on my shopping list (Fowl Play, Sea Gurl and Frisky), but I've decided to start out with this one.

Nite Owl (what a cute name!) is a taupe/café au lait cream with loads of silver microglitter inside. The effect is fabulous and the formula is great! It went right where I wanted and whan I wanted. I can't find a dupe for this one as much I'd scratch my head! :) Love it when this happens!
The drying time was also very ok, and the finish is impeccable. Opaque in 2 coats.

Her I'm wearing 2 coats of Orly - Nite Owl, no top coat:

In conclusion:

Application: 5/5
Formula: 4/5
Finish: 5/5
Drying time: 4/5
Opacity: 4/5

Overall: 4.4/5

Thank you everyone for watching!

Hugs!

Quick OPI Taupe Comparison

A-TAUPE THE SPACE NEEDLE vs. OVER THE TAUPE

Hello again,

I was curious to see how A-Taupe The Space Needle looked near Over The Taupe (which is my absolute and all times favourite nail polish... I know, it's a bit bizarre, but it was also my first OPI, so it somhow has sentimental value...).
Also, for me, besides being my favorite polish, it's my reference for the Taupe shade.
So, when I first saw the name of the OPI's new colour "A-Taupe The Space Needle" I immediately thought of comparing it to Over The Taupe!

So here are the pics:

On the Left: Over The Taupe; On the Right: A-Taupe The Space Needle

Index and ring: Over The Taupe; middle and pinkie: A-Taupe The Space Needle

In conclusion....despite the fact that both polishes are claiming themselves as "taupe", they are two distinct shades.
My opinion? OK: I still think that A-Taupe The Space Needle is kaki! And that Over the Taupe is taupe. Sorry, but, that's only my humble opinion. Waiting for yours!

Anyway, I like them both, but.... I stick to my first love: Over the Taupe... I think no polish will ever be able to replace it on top my favorite nail polishes ;)

See ya!!!

OPI - A-Taupe The Space Needle - Touring America Collection

... OR HOW OPI REDEFINES THE TAUPE SHADE!

Hello everyone!

This is the 3rd shade from the Touring America Collection Ruxi has sent me try on: A-Taupe The Space Needle!

The name of the polish is nicely found, but... taupe... everybody knows what taupe is, right? Light brown, like milk chocolate... etc. Well, this taupe is different... in my opinion it's not taupe, it's Kaki (greenish brown or brownish green if you want :) ). Or Kaki-ish taupe ;)
Anywway, I love it!
Leaving aside the shade controversy, this polish is great! The formula is excellent, the application was prefect, the finish is sooo shiny,  the drying time is normal and... yes, this one is an autumn coulour indeed!

Here I'm wearing 2 cots of A-Taupe The Space Needle, no top coat:

See what I mean? This was taken in the sun.

This one too.

And in the end, just for the fun:
Seattle: autumn view from the TOP of the Space Needle

Now I know why they've chosen this shade to represent Seattle! :D

See ya!

Hugs!!!
